Travers has 39 years of Electrical Engineering in maintenance, design, projects and consulting. He has experienced
6 years at Zimbabwe Iron & Steel, 6 years in a paper mill and 27 years in the Furnace Industry.
While primarily a heavy current, medium voltage Engineer, he also has experience in metering, control and
instrumentation and PLC/Scada programming.
He has been at Hatch for 11 years working mainly on furnace projects with a particular interest in transformers. He
has participated in the design and commissioning of several furnaces in South Africa, Congo, Italy, Brazil, France,
Texas and New Caledonia.
Recent work has included working in Congo commissioning a 20MW turbine generator, where he had a significant
role in the design.
Most recently he has been on assignment for 15 months as Owner’s Engineer for Zimbabwe Power Corporation for
the installation and commissioning of two new 150MW hydro generators in Kariba.
